Piazzale Michelangelo

Piazzale Michelangelo is the enormous terrace overlooking Florence from the south riverbank with sweeping views of the Duomo, its cupola and bell tower, and the green rolling hills that surround Florence. The Piazzale lies a short walk from the historic Porta a San Niccoló in Piazza Poggi near the Boboli gardens. This square is dedicated to Michelangelo and displays copies of the David and four allegories of the Medici Chapel of San Lorenzo. The Piazzale can be accesed by car along the Viale Michelangelo, or by walking through the dictrict of San Niccoló.
